What we Believe

The object of the Christian Church is not to add another to the many denominations that are already present. A divided church is contrary to the teachings of Christ and His apostles (John 17:21; 1 Cor. 1:10, 11). The world will never be won to Christ as long as sectarian divisions continue to be emphasized. The prayer of Jesus (John 17), the teachings of the apostles, the condition of the world and the desire of a host of Christians demand the laying aside of the doctrines of men and a return of the church today to the church as it was in the days of the apostles in doctrine and character.

Our aim is:
1. The restoration of New Testament Christianity, the consequent unity of all the followers of Christ in one obedient body. (John 17:21; 1 Cor. 12:13-27).
2. To exalt Christ above denomination and His Word (the Bible) above all human creeds.
3. To build a church of Christ without denominational name or man-made creed or any barrier to Christian unity; a church whose terms of fellowship shall be as broad as the conditions of salvation made known in the New Testament and identical with them.
4. To lead people to Jesus Christ in clear light of New Testament teaching and help them grow up in all things in truth and love.

To do this we shall admit the largest liberty in non-essentials, and in the essentials we shall appeal to the New Testament. “Where the Bible speaks, we speak; where the Bible is silent, we are silent.” We claim no man-made creed but a living Christ. We need no book but God’s book and that, we believe, is the revelation of God to man and Holy Spirit inspired. The Old Testament is for our knowledge and example. The New Testament is our rule of faith and practice for Christian living. Everything that is necessary for the unconverted to do in order to become a Christian and prepare for eternal life in Heaven is found in the New Testament.
